Atef Abu Saif   -   Palestine   young euro connect
Born in 1973 in the Gaza Strip. Following studies in English language and literature, he continued his studies in politics. The subject of his master's thesis, which he took at Bradford University in the United Kingdom, was „European Integration”. His debut novel, „Shadows in the Memory?”, was published in 1997; he has since published a number of other academic essays and novels.

Jonas T. Bengtsson   -   Denmark   young euro connect
Born in 1976. Worked as scriptwriter and presenter for children's television and radio programmes. Published his debut novel „Aminas Breve” in 2005, a book that won him the Bogforums/BG - Banks New Talent Prize for Best Novel. He currently lives in Copenhagen with his wife and son, and is working on his second novel.

Petra Hulova   -   Czech Republic   young euro connect
Born in Prague in 1979. As part of her studies at The Charles University in Prague, she spent a considerable amount of time in Mongolia, at the University of Ulan Bator. In 2002, she published her first novel „In Memory of My Grandmother”. Her studies also took her to New York, but also led to extensive travel primarily in Russia, the Far East and Siberia. Her most recent novel, „Circus Les Memoires”, was published in 2005.

Tanya Malyarchuk   -   Ukraine   young euro connect
Born in 1983 in 83 Ivano-Frankovsk, Ukraine. She published her first novel, „Adolfo's end-game or roses for Liza”, in 2004, and has since followed it up with the publication of her most recent work „From top to bottom. Fear's book” in 2006. She currently lives in Kiev, where she works as a television journalist.

Rashid Novaire   -   The Netherlands   young euro connect
Born in Amsterdam in 1979, the son of a Moroccan father and Dutch mother. He attended a Waldorf school, where he won his first literary prizes. In 1999, he published his first collection of short stories, „Reigers in Cairo”. A succession of further publications, awards and readings at international festivals followed. His most recent novel is due to be published in 2007.

Camille de Toledo   -   France   young euro connect
Born in Lyon in 1976 in Lyon. Stipendiary of the Villa Medici in Rome, writer and filmmaker. Author of the essay „Goodbye Tristesse. Bekenntnisse eines unbequemen Zeitgenossen” (Goodbye Tristesse: Commitments of an Awkward Contemporary) as well as the novel „The Inversion of Hieronymus Bosch”. Writing under the pseudonym Oscar Philipsen, he also published a collection of poetry. He currently works for the Maren Sell publishing house, and continues to devote his time to both writing and experimental films.
